Mr. Mohammed Zakaria Ali is the Deputy Auditor- General (DAG) in Charge of Educational Institutions Audit Department of the Audit Service. He is responsible for among other things, the audit of all public educational institutions.
Before his current appointment, Mr. Ali served for almost six years as the Assistant Auditor General (AAG) for Finance, ensuring that proper accounting records were maintained amongst other responsibilities.
He joined the Service on 9th June, 1992 as a Senior Auditor and worked in various branches including CGAD/Pension and Treasury. He was amongst the pioneers in setting up the Performance and Special Audit Department.
For four years, Mr. Zakaria Ali served as the District Auditor for Bawku in the Upper East Region where he made the District the best performing Office in the Upper East Region in 2010. During his tenure, the district produced significant number of observation and recommendations to the regional office which were included in the Auditor General’s report to Parliament.
He has performed numerous special audit assignments internationally. These include:

• Audit of Ghana High Commission, Malaysia, 2015
• Audit of Ghana High Commission, Zimbabwe, 2012
He has attended a number of international conferences and seminars. Among them are Systems Based Audit, Advance Financial Refresher Workshop for District Assemblies, Resource Management Systems, and the Intensive Performance Audit Training Course. Locally, Mr. Zakaria Ali has been part of the auditing team that conducts special audit exercises.
Mr. Zakaria Ali is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). He has an MSc in Accounting & Finance from the University of Ghana Business School.
Mr. Ali, as he is affectionately called, enjoys soccer, reading and traveling.
