It is a great pleasure that I send this Christmas message. Each year that passes seems to have its own character and the year 2020 is no exception.

As I look back over these past twelve months, I see a mixture of challenges and opportunities. We all have so much to be thankful for our lives and good health.

The COVID-19 pandemic had an unprecedented global crisis with devastating health, economic and social impact, but the good Lord has taken us through so far. During the year we were also inundated with legal cases but we were able to manage them.

Not enough training ambition was shown during the past few years, but the Board and management were able to sanction the training of about 1,000 staff in the assistant auditors, auditors and senior auditors’ grades during the year. Over 200 persons were recruited into the Service, while about 300 professional staff and 90 sub-professional staff were promoted during the year.

In consultation with the Public Services Commission, our dependable allies, the Service was granted an improved salary structure effective 1st January, 2020 that gave the staff something to smile about this Christmas.

It was with great sadness that I informed both management and staff of the death of a Board member, Mr. James Kwaku Frempong. The Board would like to thank you all for your support during that difficult period.

Christmas is a time for reflection and rejuvenation of hope for the future. May we always be ever mindful of the spirit of caring, sharing, love and generosity of the Christmas season.

On behalf of the Board let me end by thanking you for your support and hard work. We wish you a safe and very happy Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, joy, productivity and prosperity.

Prof. Edward Dua Agyeman
Chairman, Audit Service Board
